I'm only just starting to understand semi-colons. Every explanation I ever got, from teachers to books, was so mired down in Bill Cosby-esque grammar-speak (ya see, you puts the independsin clauses in with the jell-o puddin' pops, and separate it with an ah-gaaah) I could never figure it out.

We all have words we have trouble spelling or using correctly. No matter how many times I read the rules for using lay and lie, I always have to double-check. But there are some words we just need to stop misspelling.
